Let me take an opportunity to Belated Happy Birthday to K. Lah too.
My wife and I still talk about you since we've met first and only time at "Somboon seafood" restaurant. My wife remembers you so well because she and you were from the same Northern part.
And your BD is very close to our grand daughter "Samantha", she was born on November 1st and just turned 5 years old.
Lily Of The West
Lily of the West
Arrangement by Joan Baez
When first I came to Louisville
Some pleasure there to find
A damsel there from Lexington
Was pleasing to my mind
Her rosy cheeks, her ruby lips
Like arrows pierced my breast
And the name she bore was Flora
The Lily Of The West
I courted lovely Flora
Some pleasure there to find
"But" she turned unto another man
Which sore distressed my mind
She robbed me of my liberty
Deprived me of my rest
(Still I love my faithless)"Then go my lovely" Flora
The Lily Of The West
"Way" down in yonder shady grove
A man of high degree
Conversing with my Flora there
It seemed so strange to me
And the answer that she gave to him
It sure did me oppress
I was betrayed by Flora
The Lily Of The West
I stepped up to my rival
My dagger in my hand
I seized him by the collar and
I boldly made him stand
Being mad to desperation I pierced him in the breast
(All for) "Then go" my lovely Flora
The Lily Of The West
"And" I had to stand my trial
I had to make my plea
They placed me in the criminal box
And then commenced on me
Although she swore my life away
Deprived me of my rest
(And I) Still love my faithless Flora
The Lily Of The West
I can't help but have to admire you. It's not at all an easy task to interpret any song into other language. It's such a delicate mission to accomplish!
We all know that most of us just hear the song but hardly listen to it word by word, but I guess it's your true artist habit that has to really pay attention to each and every word as you do in every square centimeter of your canvas when you paint your masterpieces
And I'm pretty sure you want to share the beauty and meaning of each song to the world. Just like "Hey, listen to this one. It's so pretty isn't it?"
But just like Don McLean's Vincent lyric;
"Now I think I know what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
PERHAPS THEY NEVER WILL
But keep doing it my friend, very few of us can do what you're doing here
"as you do in every square centimeter of your canvas when you paint your masterpieces"
LOVE IT!!!
Thank you so very much uncle.
