เดิมที เพลงนี้เป็นเพลง Scottish folk song เก่าแก่ ในยุคแรกๆ มีชื่อเรียกกันว่า The Bonnie Lass o' Fyvie (โดยJohn Strachan ในปี 1951) , บ้างก็เรียก Bonnie Barbara-O หรือHandsome Polly-O และ Pretty Peggy of Derby ก็มี.... บางคนก็เรียกว่า There once was a troop o' Irish dragoons (ตามประโยคแรกของเพลง)
แต่ชื่อเพลงที่รู้จักกันดี ก็คือ Peggy-O. โดย
Bob Dylan ใช้ชื่อเพลง"Pretty Peggy-O" บนอัลบั้มแรกของเขาในชื่ออัลบั้ม Bob Dylanในปี 1962

Fennario ใช้เป็นชื่อเพลง จากอัลบั้ม Joan Baez in Concert ในปี 1963
