ตัวนี้เป็น Custom Shop Luthier's Choice Series ซึ่งผลิตในปี 2002 อยู่ล้อตเดียวแต่ไม่ใด้ระบุว่าผลิตกี่ตัว ต่อมาในปี 2008 Gibson ก็ผลิตออกมาอีก 6 ตัวแต่เป็นสี natural ครับ เขาบรรยายเสียงของ macassar ebony ไว้ดังนี้

"While the typical Mahogany J-45 is bright and punchy sounding emphasizing the mid-bass, the Macassar Ebony (like Zircotte and Brazilian Rosewood) is a dense, premium tonewood which imparts a deep, crystal clear bass response, distinct mids and sparkling highs, not unlike a Steinway grand."
