I wholeheartedly agree with Pood.
Just one example here, Michael Hedges used Martin D-28 for his whole short life of fingerstyle.
And with the latest advancement of EQ and new high tech such as Fishman Aura etc. You can almost always make any unique tone out of any guitar.

So just like Pood said, pick the guitar that you almost feel like it's the extension of your body and arms and then you'll be happy with it more than the shape of it.
