"McPherson guitars is the brainchild of Matt McPherson, a design guru with more patents to his name than Imelda Marcos has shoes in her closet."

Mathew Mcpherson Sr.

McPherson J-50 handcrafted guitar. Build in 1979 by Mander McPherson in Edina/Minnesota. Very rare guitar. Only a few made."

ตรง sound hole อันล่าง ข้างในจะมีป้ายกระดาษฉีกขาดไปครึ่งนึงแต่ยังอ่านได้บ้าง "PAT NO. 4.317.402 McPherson Model No. J-50M Serial No. 17

Spruce

1930's Gibson arch top

Truss rod cover: มีโลโก้ "McPherson" pat no 4.317.402 และรูปมือสองมือสัมผัสกันแบบ "The Creation of Adam" ของ Michelangelo.

Binding

Ebony!

TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal has always loved guitars. Any book that had a bunch of guitars in it, I could just look at them for days, he says. His first instrument was a Silvertone One of those Sears models with the round hole. In high school he made enough money to buy himself an Epiphone Texan. That was the first guitar that I had around for a long, long, long time, he recalls.

Mahal got into resonator instruments early on with their ringly, tingly sound. The brown National Duolian he used on his first records was a long-term loaner from a friend who was sent to prison. He said that I deserved this instrument more than he did.

Today he confesses, I don?t know how many guitars I have. It?s probably about time for me to count. I?d probably say about 25 or something like that. I?ve got a ?50s Gretsch Eldorado, a couple of Dobros (a signature Dobro that Dobro made for me), a really nice Guild 12-string that I love. He also owns three black McPhersons (McPherson Guitars, PO Box 537, Sparta, WI 54656; [608] 269-2728; fax [608] 269-3120) that have three soundholes a small-body model built like a 00-18, and a six-string and 12-string, both built almost on the J-200 size. These instruments feature spruce tops and mahogany backs and sides.

As for string gauges, Mahal says, Generally I use an .011 to a .047 or .012 to .052 on the bigger guitars, the necks and bodies that can hold it.

TAJ MAHAL

I've had some of those McPherson three-holed guitars. I love them; they're clean and record really well. You can play any style on them. I've got two six-strings - a 00-18 size and the regular, almost J-200 shape, which I also have in a 12-string. All three of them are black. They've got piezos under the bridge, but it's got a Baggs system that goes into a preamp - so you can get the volume up without plugging into an amp. With the preamp, you can get a fat note that's in the room like everybody else.

If the pickups are good, I can take almost any guitar and play with any kind of ensemble, but of late I tend to play my Epiphone Emperor, which has a cutaway and a Johnny Smith floating pickup - just a tone control and volume control. Then I've got a Kalamazoo four-string archtop f-hole guitar. When you've got two guitars, bass, drums, piano, saxophone kind of thing, a lot of times people don't have enough strings in the rhythm section. They think they've got to have another guitar, but sometimes you just need other strings that are in between where the guitar is or in some other clef, around the guitar, that thicken up the rhythm. That's what I like about playing with the Hula Blues band; other than the horn and the drums, everything else is strings.

Hey W@@dro,

You said "ผู้จัดการชื่อ Jeff เขาเป็นคนอังกฤษเคยเล่น keyboard/woodwind กับวง War (Eric Burdon) ตอนสมัยบุกเบิกในอังกฤษ"

I have a funny story to tell about "War" here; Big Grin
In late 70s, our band "ON THE ROCK" was hired to play at "Los Angeles Convention Center" by some Thai society that I forgot which one.
Anyway, few days before the show we were asked if we mind to have some American band play before us about an hour or so? Of course we didn't mind to play less but get the same $$.

We showed up and was told that the band would be "War" and because they knew some of Thai committee people so they volunteered to play at Thai party just for the public exposure I guess.

And there they were (but without Eric Burdon, don't ask me why I just didn't know!) on the stage making their real music with their own instruments which was a lot compare to ours.

We glued to the stage, watched every move they made and learned a lot. Yeah they were the real thing not the posers like US!Rolleyes

We had good laugh all night playing after them and still couldn't believe that "War" was our "Opening act" !!! Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinTongue
