Verdine White is still one of my favorite bass players, I had a chance to see them LIVE many years ago and this guy was such a charismatic player. My eyes glued to him most of the time on the stage.
He seemed to really enjoy what he's doing, and not only his non-stop movement on his feet, his fingers did the unbelieveably talking it's such a priviledge to witness his "JOY OF MUSIC" that he possessed.
Hi Korkai,
I believed I've been to their concert twice, first time it's outdoor at Ontario raceway in Ontario around 1974? My dear friend Pete (MRW Pumin Varavarn) took me there. It's kind of "Woodstock" type. As I recalled there were at least 10 bands played all day in the hot summer sun of California and one of them were EW&F, also Tower of Power, War and the others. And we were young and typically crazy. I had no clue how much we've paid for the ticket, may be $10 for the whole day and night outdoor concert?
Then second time we went to their indoor concert at Inglewood Forum, as I recalled there were 3 bands of EW&F, Thin Lizzy, and Chicago, and again I didn't recall at all how much we've paid for the ticket.
They were all good, you know how good the "LIVE" music is compares to the well-polished but so trained monkey from the recording studios!
Yeah, when we were young and got not much responsibilities to be taken care of, we were wild and free (birds?)
Now those days were gone for me, If you want to take my advice then it will be "Go and watch them LIVE, because that's the only way you will know for sure if they are for real or just another posers"
