Few days ago, I answered the local Craigslist ads about "Baby Taylor" that wanted to sell "$100 for excellent condition Baby Taylor with gig bag"

I was thinking about bring along any of my guitars with me to Thailand for my 3 month vacation in November-Feb but couldn't make up my mind.
When I saw this ad it got me thinking. I personally don't really like Baby Taylor that much, it's more of a cute toy to me. But for that price I thought what the heck I can just unscrew the neck off and put it in my luggage in stead of carry on to the airport and beg for the Airline's mercy so I can have some kind of fretboard to practice while I'm in Thailand!

When I got to the seller, it was a mistake description! it's not Baby Taylor, it is "Big Baby Taylor"! Talking about luck! And for that asking price I didn't really expect anything much. But it's as excellent as the seller posted. It seemed like it's never been played. He said his daughter lost interest in learning to play so he wanted to get rid of it.

I tried to find the "What's wrong with it?" syndrome but couldn't. Only one small thing that I was sure it's the factory second is the Taylor name at the headstock, The name is off-center

So I guess he bought it as second from the factory. and with its own Taylor gig bag. It's almost like I paid $75 for guitar and $25 for bag.

I took it home, put the Fishman Neo 02 Humbucker soundhole pickup that I have and tried it without and also with ART Pre-Amp. OMG it sounded so decent! Unscrewed the neck just to see if I can carry on the body with me on the plane and put the neck in the luggage. EUREKA! It worked like charm.

So this Big Baby will be my companion while I'm in Thailand's vacation and I can show off my "Best bang for my buck" for Nimit members.

Anyone has your "Best bang for your buck" story to share??????

ผมเดินทางบ่อยมาก ไม่เคยมีปัญหาเลยครับ ไม่ว่า Hardcase หรือ Gigbag

เพื่อนๆยกฉายาผมให้เป็นบิดาแห่ง Traveling Guitars เพราะเคยมี 3 ตัวนี้ แต่ตอนนี้ใช้ Yamaha Silent สายเหล็ก ครับ เล่นง่ายคอเล็ก (กำลังหาซื้อเพิ่มอีกตัว)



ตัวแรกซ้ายมือสุดคือ Baby Taylor ตัวที่สองคือ Takamini มี pickup ด้วย ตัวขวาสุดคือ Alvarez MSD1 All solid
ซื้อจากพี่หมอ Sarun เอ้ย! Rasun เสียงพุ่ง กรุ๊งกริ๊ง เป็นประกายแต่เล่นยาก เพราะ Action สูง ตอนนี้ฝากน้องสาวในเว็บนี้ให้ดูแลชั่วคราว

อยากแนะนำว่าไม่ควรหิ้ว Big baby กลับไปที่อเมริกาอีก ขายทิ้งให้ผมถูกๆเลยดีกว่า อิ..อิ..

กำลังนึกๆว่ามีอยู่1เรื่อง แต่ เป็นเรื่องของคนอื่นน่ะครับ

ผมถามน้ายอดเยี่ยมให้แล้วครับ แกบอกว่า "Best bang for your buck" ไปหาใด้แถวสวนลุมฯตอนดึกๆ พี่ napman ให้แกพาไปดูตอนมาเมืองไทยก็ใด้ครับว่าเดี๋ยวนี้เขาพัฒนากันไปถึงไหนแล้วเมื่อเทียบกับตอนพี่เรียนหนังสือ

ขอเตือนไว้ก่อนนะครับให้ระวังพวก Big Baby ที่อายุต่ำกว่าสิบแปดแต่ถ้าไปเจอพวก Baby (ต่ำกว่าสิบหก) นี่คุกแน่นอนครับ

Yes I've changed my mind and won't bring Yamaha Silent along. I did unscrew Big Baby neck and put it back, everything's fine. We'll go by Asiana Airline so I don't have any clue.

Well, in mid 70s I bought used Gibson Dove at pawn shop in Los Angeles for $250, and another time bought Gibson SG bass for $200 from Frank Zappa's bass player, not bad ehh?!!

ผมว่า napman คงจะไม่สนกับเรื่อง best bang for your buck แบบสวนลุมฯละครับ! สมัยก่อนพวกเราซ้อมเพลงใหม่กันทุกคืนที่บาร์ Green Dragon ตอนตีสามตีสี่ และก็มีหมอนวดสาวสวยชั้นสูงข้างบาร์หลายคนเข้ามามั่วดูพวกเราซ้อมเพลงใหม่แทบทุกคืน จำได้ว่ามีสาวสวยสองสามคนมาหลงรักน้า napman คนรูปหล่อ, ซื้อข้าวปลาอาหารจากตลาดประตูน้ำมาให้กินกันที่บาร์ทุกครั้ง มีบริการทุกอย่าง..น้ำแข็ง, น้ำอัดลม, ของมึนเมา, นวดหลัง, ฟรีหมดทุกอย่าง....แถมเสนอ Best Bang For Free ด้วย..น้า Napman ไม่สนครับ! และออกตัวว่าจะไปอ่านหนังสือ Khalil Gibran ทุกที..สาวอาบอบนวดก็อกหักไปหลายคนทีเดียว..นี่เห็นกับตาเลยครับ! ดูซิครับ!

PS: Khalil Gibran แกเป็นคน anti "Best Bang" หรือเปล่าก็ไม่รู้ เราก็ไม่เคยอ่าน

I've heard that factory2nd of Martin and Taylor will usually be sold to artists only, but that's what i've heard .
Not so sure about that ,so I think maybe it's probably not a factory2nd.

Have u checked on the back of the headstock and the label in soundhole?
usually if it's a factory2nd ,the word "2nd" or "used" must be stamped.
But i've never had experience with factory2nd of taylor ,so I might be wrong.

Anyways my best bang for the buck is I just got a new Epiphone Masterbilt DR500R for only $330 in a local store. The price usually goes around $579-600.I've checked GC, MIF and many many stores online and it costs $599.
And this guitar sounds so awesome. It's one of the most popular guitars under $700.
Some say that this guitar can easily beat guitars that cost twice.

And I got a new Breedlove ac25plus for only $550 with ahardshell case on ebay, but it's a factory2nd guitar.
The price runs around $999. Anyhow I couldn't find any scratch, dent, flaw or anything.
It's just look perfectly for me and it sounds amazing .
