Just want to chime in a little bit here.
My answer for that question in short is "YES".
And that's why it's called "Pop Filter".
Not necessarily for "LIVE" performance but it will definitely improve your Pop elimination (or lack of it).
And very crucial if you use Condenser mics in "LIVE" or particularly in home Recording, it'll only help and no harm done whatsoever.
So I'd say go for it, either the real one or the "custommade" one.
